Good Luck, Chuck

I initially had this up on the end of the previous post, but decided to keep them separate. Because one is about my emotional health, and the other is about a television show, so. Anyway, final thoughts on Chuck.

---

Okay I wrote all that yesterday [meaning Sunday], and I have now fully caught up on Chuck...not including the season finale. It's cued up and ready to go now. I heard from my roomie the show is definitely renewed, but with a much smaller budget and for only 13 episodes, which is better news than cancellation. Especially because Josh Schwartz described the finale like this in this interview:

"If, in two weeks, that is the last episode of the show to ever air, it will be one of the least satisfying finales of all time. Chris Fedak, the guy who created the show, said people will set their living rooms on fire."

Even without seeing the finale, I can tell you this season is going out with a bang. The last few episodes have been spectacular. I have laughed out loud and teared up so much in the past couple days of watching this that I am almost ashamed to admit it in public. Almost. I have professed my Chuck love here before, and I have to admit that this is not a show for everyone. But if it's a show for you, it's really a show for you. Cult following status. And the last few episodes have been so much perfection that they've reminded me why I am such a crazy cult follower. Promise me, though, that if you start watching, you'll start from the beginning. There's no other way.

And now, back to Zachary Levi, to whom I'd like to profess my undying love, and the gang.

---

Okay, final edit. The finale was really, really good, although I had an inkling of what was coming at the end way before it did. We'll see what they do with all this next season. It could either be Awesome or...lame. Let's hope for Awesome.

And, to be honest, I think I liked the second to last episode the best this season. If the show really were being canceled, I'd want that to be the very last one. I also made the mistake of clicking a link to a discussion forum on Chuck and was kind of frightened by the intense level of fandom there. So I am scaling back my enthusiasm to point out that when I said cult follower, I didn't mean that. I didn't actually know there were people like that out there in the world. At all. Television can be a scary world. The Internet doesn't help. I'm going to bed a little disturbed. Goodnight all!
